Pakistan Rangers Distribute Ration Packages in Rawalakot Amid Ongoing Disruptions

RAWALAKOT - In a humanitarian initiative to address growing public hardship, the Pakistan Rangers have begun distributing ration packages to deserving families in Rawalakot and surrounding areas of Azad Jammu and Kashmir .

The relief effort comes in response to disruptions in the supply of essential commodities caused by a prolonged sit-in and road blockades organized by the proscribed Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), which had paralyzed public movement and created shortages of food and medicines in the region .

In the first phase, 100 ration packages were distributed to needy families. Each package contains flour, cooking oil, sugar, pulses, milk powder, tea, and other daily essential food items . An additional 1,500 ration packages are being prepared by the AJK State Disaster Management Authority (SDMA) and the civil administration for distribution in phases over the coming days .

Residents of Rawalakot have expressed appreciation for the timely initiative and extended their gratitude to the Pakistan Rangers for their assistance . The government has framed the distribution as a step to provide immediate relief and ensure the availability of basic necessities for households affected by the prolonged unrest .

The situation in Rawalakot had deteriorated sharply following a month-long sit-in by the banned JAAC, which had called for the abolition of reserved seats for Kashmir refugees and other demands . Authorities had imposed a ban on the group under the Anti-Terrorism Act, and clashes between protesters and security forces resulted in multiple deaths and injuries .
