ISLAMABAD: Jailed former prime minister Imran Khanβs sister, who met him while he was taken to a hospital on Thursday night, said on Friday that the PTI founder told her, citing doctors, that he was facing health complications due to solitary confinement.
Uzma Khan was addressing a press conference in Islamabad, where she shared her account of Imranβs visit to the hospital.
He was taken to the hospital following the Supreme Courtβs directives after the superintendent of the Adiala jail β where he is imprisoned since August 2023 β submitted a report on his health condition. However, while the court had directed the government to move Imran to Shifa International Hospital, a private facility, for medical checkup and examination, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar revealed that he was taken to the government-run Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) instead.
The minister said a team of doctors conducted a detailed examination of him at Pims and declared him βmedically fitβ.
Narrating her account of the episode alongside Imranβs personal physician, Dr Faisal Sultan, Uzma said they had received a phone call on Friday evening to reach the Adiala jail.
βSo we reached the Adiala jail at around 8-8:30pm,β she added.
