In my opinion, this escalation represents a dangerous departure from traditional military doctrine, which often avoids targeting civilian infrastructure due to the humanitarian consequences and risk of broadening conflict. The deliberate targeting of bridges and airports—especially with civilians present—risks inflaming regional sentiment and invites a cycle of retaliation that could destabilize the entire Gulf, drawing in other nations. While the stated objective may be to degrade Iranian logistical capacity, the collateral damage and symbolic nature of these strikes suggest a punitive strategy that could backfire, eroding international norms and potentially triggering a wider war.
