KHAR, Bajaur - In a tragic incident of cross-border terrorism, a drone strike targeted a civilian house in the Shinkot area of Tehsil Khar, Bajaur district, late on Wednesday night, resulting in the martyrdom of three members of the same family and injuries to eight others.
According to initial reports, the drone attack struck the residence of Syed Wali Jan, son of Ajab Khan, in the Pakistan Chowk area of Shinkot. The victims were identified as:
Ishaq, son of Mirzaman (15 years old)
Imtiaz, son of Bakhtiar (30 years old)
Muneeba, daughter of Bakhtiar (5 years old)
The attack was carried out using a quadcopter drone that crossed into Pakistani territory from Afghanistan, according to police sources. The explosive device was dropped on the residential house, causing severe damage and casualties. Local officials confirmed that the injured, including women and children, were shifted to the District Headquarters Hospital in Khar for treatment, where some remain in critical condition.
This is not the first time the Afghan Taliban regime has used drones to target civilians in Pakistan's border districts. Pakistan has repeatedly called upon the Afghan interim government to prevent the use of its soil for terrorist activities against its neighbor. Despite these calls, cross-border attacks have continued with impunity.
Local residents and tribal elders have strongly condemned the attack, calling it a cowardly act of terrorism against innocent civilians. They have demanded that the government take immediate diplomatic and military action to stop such attacks from Afghan territory.
Security forces have cordoned off the area, and a search operation is underway. A formal case has been registered, and an investigation has been launched to ascertain the exact nature of the attack and the origin of the drone.
