Over the past four days alone, Pakistan witnessed a surge in major terrorist attacks resulting in the martyrdom of police personnel, soldiers, and innocent civilians. In response, security forces have eliminated 54 terrorists. Sharif unequivocally stated that Pakistan's eastern neighbor (a clear reference to India) is deeply involved in orchestrating this wave of terrorism, providing financial support, weapons, and facilitating infiltration of militants from Afghanistan into Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He also pointed to unnamed external actors sustaining the menace. The Prime Minister emphasized that the political and military leadership is fully united, vowing to eradicate terrorism completely and ensure lasting peace. In my opinion, Sharif's strong rhetorical stance is both necessary and timely—given the recent spike in violence, a clear message of resolve is crucial for national morale and deterrence. However, the persistent accusation against India, while reflective of longstanding geopolitical tensions, requires concrete evidence to avoid international backlash. Moreover, truly eliminating terrorism demands not only military operations but also addressing socioeconomic grievances, improving border management, and fostering regional cooperation—especially with the Taliban-led Afghanistan to prevent cross-border militant movements. The unity between civilian and military leadership is a promising sign, but sustained political will, intelligence reforms, and public trust will be the ultimate test.
