The exercise demonstrates the navy’s ability to integrate low-cost, highly maneuverable FPV drones into naval operations, potentially for precision strikes, reconnaissance, and swarm tactics. The video, which has circulated widely on social media, uses dramatic visuals and religious symbolism (the word ‘Ababeel’ references the birds that destroyed the Abyssinian army in Islamic tradition) to project deterrence and technological readiness. From my perspective, this is a calculated piece of strategic communications. While FPV drones are not new in land warfare (as seen in Ukraine), their naval adaptation by Pakistan signals an intent to offset India’s conventional naval superiority through cheaper, harder-to-intercept systems.
