"Today, I handed over the letter from the Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister of Pakistan that is addressed to President of the Security Council, H.E. Christina Markus Lassen, who is also Permanent Representative of Denmark to the UN, on the occasion of the 7th anniversary of Indias illegal and unilateral measures imposed in IIOJK on 5th August 2019. The letter draws the attention of the Council to the intensification of efforts by Indian to change the demographic, political, and cultural character of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) through domicile, land, electoral, and administrative changes, including the issuance of 3.4 million domicile certificates to non-residents.The letter also expresses grave concern over systematic human rights violations in IIOJK, including arbitrary detentions, extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, torture, restrictions on freedoms of expression and assembly, and the use of laws such as PSA, AFSPA, and UAPA.The letter highlights the continued detention and restrictions on Kashmiri political leaders such as Mr. Shabbir Ahmed Shah, Mr. Yasin Malik, and Asiya Andrabi, journalists, lawyers, human rights defenders, and civil society activists, as well as bans on 16 political organizations representing Kashmiri aspirations.It also raises concerns over restrictions on religious freedom, including limitations on prayers at Srinagar's Jamia Masjid, monitoring of religious institutions, closure of seminaries, takeover of 215 community-run schools, and concerns regarding the Waqf (Amendment) Act.The letter warns that India's policies, military posture, deployment of 700,000900,000 security personnel in IIOJK, rhetoric against Pakistan, and suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty have heightened regional tensions and pose risks to peace and stability in South Asia.The letter calls on the UN Security Council to implement its resolutions on Jammu and Kashmir, urge India to reverse the 5 August 2019 measures, halt demographic changes, respect human rights, and support dialogue for a peaceful settlement in accordance with UNSC resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people.The DPM's letter also urges the UN Secretary-General to actively use his good offices to facilitate a just, peaceful, and durable resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, emphasizing that the unresolved issue continues to threaten regional peace and security. @MIshaqDar50 @ForeignOfficePk @PTVNewsOfficial @MoIB_Official @epwing_official"
