Riyadh: The Saudi Ministry of Defense announced on April 11, 2026, the arrival of a Pakistani Air Force contingent, including fighter jets and support aircraft, at King Abdulaziz Air Base in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province.
The deployment forms part of the Joint Strategic Mutual Defense Agreement signed between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan in September 2025. Officials from both countries described the move as aimed at strengthening joint military coordination, enhancing operational readiness, and supporting regional security and stability.
This marks the first major operational deployment under the pact, which includes a mutual defense clause treating an attack on one as an attack on both.
India is not happy with this development. New Delhi has expressed deep concern, viewing the stationing of Pakistani fighter jets in Saudi Arabia as a potential threat to regional balance and India's strategic interests, given the longstanding rivalry with Pakistan.
Adding to the tensions, Indian intelligence agency RAW and several Indian social media channels are actively running propaganda claiming that the Pakistani deployment is specifically intended for a possible attack on Iran or to support anti-Iran operations amid the ongoing fragile US-Iran ceasefire. These narratives suggest the move is part of a broader strategy against Tehran, further heightening suspicions in the region.
While India continues to maintain strong economic and energy ties with Saudi Arabia, officials in New Delhi are closely monitoring the situation and its long-term implications for Gulf security and India's own strategic environment.
