ISLAMABAD - The Afghan Charge d'Affaires was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs today, where Pakistan issued a strong demarche condemning the cowardly Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) attack by Ittehad-ul-Mujahideen Pakistan (IMP) militants on the Fateh Khel Police Post in Bannu District on May 9, 2026.

The barbaric attack resulted in the martyrdom of 15 police constables and injured four others, including a civilian, marking one of the deadliest attacks on law enforcement personnel in the region in recent years .

Pakistan presented clear evidence and technical intelligence to the Afghan diplomat, proving that the attack was planned and directed from Afghan soil . The evidence included communication intercepts, satellite imagery, and intelligence reports linking the perpetrators to terrorist sanctuaries inside Afghanistan.

The IMP, an affiliate of the banned Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), operates openly from Afghan territory with the knowledge and protection of the Afghan Taliban regime. The group functions as a proxy for hostile foreign intelligence agencies - particularly India's Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) - which have long used Afghan soil to destabilize Pakistan.

Pakistan Reserves Right to Take Decisive Action

Pakistan has documented hundreds of cross-border attacks launched from Afghan soil since the Taliban's return to power in 2021, resulting in the martyrdom of thousands of Pakistani soldiers and civilians.

The Afghan Taliban regime has consistently failed to honour its commitments under the Doha Agreement and subsequent bilateral understandings, including:

• Preventing the use of Afghan soil for attacks against Pakistan

• Taking action against TTP and other terrorist leaderships sheltering in Afghanistan

• Securing the border to prevent cross-border infiltration

Call for Immediate, Verifiable Action

Pakistan called upon the Afghan Taliban to honour their commitments and take immediate, verifiable action against IMP, TTP, and other terrorist outfits operating from their territory.
