According to security sources, two members ofΒ Fitna al-KhawarijΒ were killed in the Shakro area of Bajaur district, while eight others were eliminated in the Darbi Khel and Batan areas of Khyber districtΒ . Fitna al-Khawarij is the state-designated term for terrorists belonging to the banned TTP.
In a separate intelligence-based operation in the Chapri Naryab area of Hangu district, security forces killed a key terrorist commander identified asΒ Muawiya, described as the mastermind behind the July 30 Hangu police check-post attackΒ .
On July 30, nine policemen, including Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Diyar Khan, were martyred and 28 others injured after terrorists attacked the police check-post in Hangu districtΒ . Police killed 15 terrorists and wounded several others in a retaliatory operation. According to state broadcaster PTV, Muawiya held a senior position within Fitna al-Khawarij, ranking immediately after Commander KazimΒ .
Security forces also apprehended terrorist facilitators and recovered a large cache of arms and ammunition, including improvised explosive devices (IEDs) that were detected and safely destroyedΒ . The operations, conducted with ground forces and quadcopter surveillance, forced terrorists to flee populated areas while enhancing the effectiveness of intelligence-based operationsΒ .
Security sources have reaffirmed thatΒ Operation 11 GarajΒ will continue until terrorism is completely eliminatedΒ . A day earlier, five "Indian-sponsored" terrorists were killed in an IBO in the Razmak area, while 24 were eliminated on July 29 in Khyber districtΒ .
