"CTD Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Successful Operation in Peshawar Region 10 September 2026The Counter Terrorism Department Peshawar Region conducted a major and successful operation near Shamshato Camp inside a compound at Kabul English Language Centre in the jurisdiction of Urmar Police Station. During the raid, five FAK terrorists were killed.According to CTD, the terrorists belonging to ISKP were using the compound to plan large scale attacks. Their targets included sensitive institutions, Imambargahs and churches, and other major terrorist activities.Among those killed was a key commander of FAK, Imran alias Abdullah alias Bilal alias Abu Bakar. Another identified terrorist is Shahid Ullah son of Miraj, resident of Upper Mohmand. Identification of the remaining three is underway.From the compound, security forces recovered one SMG, four pistols, two hand grenades, five magazines, one locally made IED and a large number of cartridges.Imran alias Abu Bakar was a proclaimed offender wanted by CTD in 20 cases related to bomb blasts, target killings of police and political leaders, and terrorism in Peshawar and other districts. He was also wanted for the martyrdom of Maulana Khanzaib and Senator Hidayatullah. He was directly involved in the killing of Rehan Zaib and was present at the scene firing along with other terrorists. He was also wanted by CTD Islamabad in the suicide attack case on an Imambargah in Tarlai, Islamabad. The government had announced a reward of 12 million rupees for information leading to his arrest. Investigations show that for the 6 February 2026 Tarlai Imambargah suicide attack, Imran arranged the suicide jacket from Bajaur and transported the suicide bomber from Nowshera to Tarlai in Islamabad. The killed terrorist Shahid Ullah conducted the reconnaissance and identified the target Imambargah for that attack.Imran alias Abu Bakar was also linked to the 2023 suicide attack on the JUI-F workers convention in Bajaur.After confirming the intelligence, CTD SWAT teams surrounded the compound from all sides. As soon as the teams entered, the terrorists opened indiscriminate fire with intent to kill. The CTD personnel took cover and responded professionally. In the exchange of fire, five terrorists were killed. Drones were used during the operation to monitor movement and improve effectiveness.The Bomb Disposal Unit and forensic teams were called to secure evidence and complete legal and technical procedures at the scene.The Inspector General of Police Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfiqar Hameed and the Additional IG CTD praised the courage, morale and professional performance of the CTD SWAT teams. They reaffirmed that CTD operations will continue without interruption to defeat terrorist designs, establish peace in the province, and eliminate the last terrorist.A search and clearance operation in the area is still ongoing and further legal action is being taken."
