The government on Friday declared a public holiday on Aug 26 (Wednesday) on the occasion of Eid Miladun Nabi.

Muslims around the world celebrate the birth of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) on the 12th of Rabiul Awwal β€” the third month of the Islamic lunar calendar.

A notification issued by the Cabinet Division, a copy of which is available with Dawn, said, β€œThe prime minister has been pleased to declare Aug 26, 2026 (Wednesday) as a public holiday on the occasion of Eid Miladun Nabi (12th Rabiul Awwal 1448 AH).”

The holiday was notified in continuation of a previous circular dated Jan 19 regarding public and optional holidays for the current year, it said.

Last week, Central Ruet-i-Hilal Committee Chairman Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad announced that the Rabiul Awwal moon was not sighted on Aug 13, and Eid-i-Miladun Nabi would fall on August 26.
