According to security sources, the operation was launched after credible intelligence indicated that the banned Fitna al-Khawarij terrorists had abducted police personnel and were holding them in a hideout in the Kurram region. The FC Special Operations Group moved swiftly and engaged the captors with precision, neutralising the threat and securing the safe release of all hostage police personnel.
Security officials confirmed that all hostage police personnel were safely rescued and reunited with their families. The operation was conducted with surgical precision, ensuring that no harm came to the hostages during the engagement. The terrorists involved in the abduction were either eliminated or forced to flee the area.
The successful rescue underscores the high level of training, operational readiness, and professionalism of Pakistan's security forces, particularly the FC Special Operations Group, which has been at the forefront of counter-terrorism operations in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The incident highlights the continued threat posed by the banned Fitna al-Khawarij (TTP) operating from Afghan soil. These groups have increasingly resorted to kidnapping security personnel and civilians to bargain for the release of imprisoned militants and to fund their operations through ransom. The Afghan Taliban regime's continued failure to act against these groups has been a consistent point of contention between Islamabad and Kabul.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir have repeatedly reaffirmed Pakistan's unwavering commitment to eliminating the menace of terrorism. Security forces continue to conduct intelligence-based operations under Operation Azm-e-Istehkam across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, targeting terrorist hideouts, facilitators, and networks.
The successful rescue operation in Kurram is yet another testament to the courage and capability of Pakistan's security forces in protecting the lives of citizens and law enforcement personnel.
