In a significant step toward youth empowerment and economic self-reliance, FC Balochistan (South), in collaboration with the Parwaz Foundation, has inaugurated the Roshan General Store in Tasp under the ‘Youth Livelihood Program.’ The store was officially opened by the Wing Commander of Panjgur Rifles, marking a tangible milestone in the region’s development efforts. This initiative provides financial support and mentorship to young entrepreneurs, enabling them to establish and sustain small businesses. The Roshan General Store is not just a retail outlet—it is a symbol of hope and opportunity for local youth who often face limited employment prospects. By fostering entrepreneurship, the program aims to reduce dependency on government jobs and create a culture of self-employment. In my opinion, this is a commendable model that addresses both immediate economic needs and long-term community resilience. Such grassroots interventions are crucial in conflict-affected and underdeveloped areas like Balochistan, where traditional infrastructure and job markets are weak. The program’s focus on youth—who are often vulnerable to extremist narratives—also serves as a powerful tool for social stability. It demonstrates that security forces can play a constructive role beyond law enforcement by investing in human capital. If scaled and sustained, the Youth Livelihood Program could transform Tasp and similar communities into hubs of local enterprise.
