At a high-level dialogue hosted by the Institute of Regional Studies in Islamabad, diplomats, academics, and policymakers examined the Chinese Communist Party’s (CPC) pivotal role in transforming China into a global economic and technological powerhouse. The discussion highlighted how the CPC’s long-term planning, governance reforms, and innovation-led strategy have not only lifted hundreds of millions out of poverty but also reshaped international development frameworks. Participants underscored that China’s growth report offers valuable lessons for developing nations, particularly in infrastructure, green energy, and digitalization. A major focus of the session was the deepening of Pakistan-China cooperation under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and its extension into the blue economy—sustainable use of ocean resources for economic growth. Experts argued that the blue economy represents a new frontier for bilateral ties, with potential in fisheries, maritime trade, and coastal energy. In my opinion, this dialogue reflects a mature partnership moving beyond traditional aid to strategic co-development. The CPC’s ability to adapt and innovate, combined with Pakistan’s geostrategic location, creates a powerful synergy that could set a benchmark for regional cooperation. However, for this to succeed, both sides must focus on inclusive growth, technology transfer, and transparent governance to ensure long-term mutual benefit.
