Boost for Pakistan & Türkiye: U.S. DoD F-16 Sustainment Contract Expands Allied Capabilities

Overview: The U.S. Department of Defense has issued a Foreign Military Sales (FMS) support agreement focused on the sustainment and management of the F-16 Fighting Falcon program for multiple allied air forces, with Pakistan and Türkiye explicitly included in the award worth 488 million dollars. The contract is administered by the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC) based in Utah, and work is scheduled to continue through March 31, 2036. Northrop Grumman serves as the primary contractor, operating through its Linthicum Heights, Maryland facility, one of the company’s major centers for radar, mission systems, and electronic warfare development. Historically, Northrop Grumman has been responsible for several key avionics and mission systems within the F-16 program, including the AN/APG-66 and AN/APG-68 multimode radars (used on F-16A/B and many F-16C/D variants), elements of the AN/ALQ-131 and AN/ALQ-184 electronic countermeasure pods, the Integrated Communications/Navigation/Identification (CNI) suite, and various electro-optical/infrared subsystems.
