"⭕️Bamyan is facing the worst drought in its history & the Taliban administration is nowhere to be seen. The grim human toll of this crisis is captured vividly in a recent report from the @UN aid coordination office (OCHA): “Imagine being one of a family of nine & sitting down to a meal of potato peelings & other scraps, boiled up into a soup. This is the harsh reality for many of #Afghanistan’s most vulnerable families, forced on them by climate change & drought, widespread malnutrition & increasing restrictions on women since the Taliban overran Kabul in 2021.” Over 3.7m children in Afghanistan are suffering from acute malnutrition. UN supported clinics have reported that “children die because parents simply didn’t know what was happening; by the time they brought the child in, it was already too late.” Even after receiving millions of dollars in US aid, the Taliban is unable to provide its people with basic needs. But have you ever thought about why the Taliban is unable to provide its people with basic needs? And where is the aid money going? Multiple independent think tanks have reported that the money the Taliban receives is mostly going into the recruitment of more fighters. Dozens of madrassas have been built in which recruits receive weapons training, while a big chunk of the funding is going to the leaders of terrorist organisations operating from Afghanistan. The Taliban pays an average of $55,000 monthly to each leader of these terrorist organisations, including Nur Wali Mehsud & Bashir Zeb, so that their loyalty stays with Hibatullah Akhundzada in their time of need. According to these think tanks, the priority of the Taliban government is not to serve the people but to keep their own fighters flooded with money. The people of #Afghanistan are suffering because of the Taliban's policies & dozens have lost their lives as a direct result."
