GWADAR - In a swift and coordinated search and rescue operation, the Pakistan Navy successfully rescued 19 crew members stranded aboard the fishing vessel Al Jalali off the Gwadar coast.

The vessel was in distress approximately 120 nautical miles south of Gwadar after suffering engine failure . The situation was further aggravated by deteriorating weather conditions in the North Arabian Sea during the ongoing monsoon, placing the lives of the crew in immediate danger .

The rescue operation was coordinated through the Joint Maritime Information Coordination Centre (JMICC). PNS Taimur was immediately tasked to undertake the rescue operation and provide assistance to the stranded vessel .

According to the Pakistan Navy, all 19 crew members aboard the vessel were safely rescued, including 11 Pakistanis and 8 Iranian nationals . The crew was provided with food, drinking water, and medical care at sea before the disabled vessel was towed safely towards shore .

President Asif Ali Zardari paid tribute to the Pakistan Navy for the rescue operation. "The rescue of Pakistani and Iranian nationals is a manifestation of Pakistan Navy's high professional skills and humanitarian compassion," he said. "The protection of human lives at sea is a testament to Pakistan Navy's full commitment to its national and international responsibilities" .

The successful operation highlights the Pakistan Navy's readiness to safeguard lives at sea and respond swiftly to maritime emergencies, despite challenging monsoon conditions .
