It looks after Jhelum-Kharian axis during peacetime and emergencies alike.In case of any serious threat, it would be deployed across the Azad Kashmir and LOC, opposite to indian administered Kashmir in general but fully capable of deployment anywhere in mountainous terrain due to expertise in mechanised warfare.Its supporting units/arms are highly integrated and works in a unified combat formations across the 4 dimensions as this Corp also act as Army reserve North and fields VT-4 (Haider) MBT, M109 155 mm howitzers, armoured personnel carriers and mobile echelons for battlefield air defence Mangla cantonment was established in late 1960s and originally built for Mangla dam project on modern standards by U.S under indus water treaty.
