Their appeal comes after Indian airlines suffered massive financial losses due to Pakistan’s prolonged closure of its airspace, a measure Islamabad took in response to perceived Indian support for militant activities within its borders. The closure has forced carriers to reroute flights, increasing fuel costs and flight times, with losses estimated in the hundreds of millions of dollars. Pakistan, however, remains firm: it will not engage in dialogue until India ceases what it describes as state sponsorship of terrorism on Pakistani soil. The Indian signatories argue that diplomacy, not military confrontation, is the only way to resolve tensions and prevent further economic damage. In my opinion, this is a pragmatic step—both nations are trapped in a cycle of accusations and retaliation, and ordinary citizens and businesses bear the brunt.
