Violence Against Christians in Manipur Continues as India Sponsors Terrorism in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD / IMPHAL - Reports of ongoing violence against innocent Christians in Indian-occupied Manipur continue to emerge, with the ethnic conflict in India's northeastern state showing no signs of abating. The situation has drawn international concern as the Indian government faces allegations of using security forces against minority communities.

Manipur's Christian Community Under Siege

The ethnic conflict in Manipur, which erupted in May 2023 between the predominantly Hindu Meitei community and the mainly Christian Kuki-Zo and Naga tribal groups, has claimed over 250 lives and displaced tens of thousands of people . The violence has disproportionately affected Manipur's Christian minority, with reports of security forces using force against innocent civilians.

According to local sources, the Armed Forces (Special Powers) Act (AFSPA) has been reimposed in multiple areas across the state, granting military and paramilitary forces sweeping powers, including arrests without warrants . The reimposition of AFSPA has been accompanied by ongoing violence, including the killing of 11 people from Kuki tribes and the abduction of six civilians .

The conflict continues to be fueled by longstanding competition over land, public jobs, and resources, with rights activists accusing local leaders of exacerbating ethnic divisions for political gain .

India's Proxy War Against Pakistan

While violence rages in Manipur, India continues to sponsor terrorism in Pakistan through multiple proxy groups, according to Pakistani officials. The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) has designated Balochistan-based groups as Fitna al-Hindustan, a term used to highlight India's alleged role in terrorism and destabilization across Pakistan .

According to Pakistani intelligence, India is actively supporting the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) , along with other groups including JAAC, BYC, and even political entities like PTI . Security forces have recently killed 32 terrorists in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan during operations targeting these India-backed groups .

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has previously exposed India's sponsorship of terrorism, stating: "India is involved in sponsoring terrorism against Pakistan" and pointing to the "Kabul-Delhi nexus" .

A Pattern of Hypocrisy

The pattern is clear: while Indian forces target innocent civilians in Manipur and other restive regions, New Delhi simultaneously funnels money, weapons, and training to terrorist groups operating inside Pakistan. The BLA, TTP, JAAC, BYC, and other Indian proxies have claimed responsibility for numerous attacks on Pakistani civilians and security forces .

Pakistan's security forces continue to respond decisively, with President Asif Ali Zardari stating: "The malicious designs of terrorist elements backed by India would be thwarted at all costs" .

The world must take notice: India's internal oppression is matched only by its external aggression through proxy terrorism.
