ISLAMABAD - In a tragic incident that has sent shockwaves across the country, Pakistan Air Force Group Captain Asim Tariq embraced martyrdom on July 4, 2026, while courageously intervening to save a woman from an apparent abduction attempt in the federal capital .

The incident occurred near Shaheen Chowk on Ninth Avenue, opposite Air University and Bahria University, within the jurisdiction of Margalla Police Station . According to initial reports, Group Captain Asim was travelling with his father when he noticed a woman struggling to free herself from a motorcyclist who was pulling her hand . Acting as a responsible citizen, he turned back and intervened .

The suspect, identified as Saad, began arguing with the officer and opened fire within moments . Group Captain Asim sustained critical injuries and succumbed shortly afterward, while the suspect fled the scene .

Woman's Statement: He Saved Me

According to police officials, the woman later revealed that the accused was her office colleague who had offered to take her to work . However, he allegedly diverted the route and tried to take her elsewhere. When she resisted, he tried to overpower her . The woman stated: "Group Captain Asim intervened in time and saved me" .

A Sacrifice Beyond Duty
